There was quite a bit of snow still on the north side of the mountain,
even though May is almost here. We varied our trek down and elected to take a loop trail
which rejoined the main route. Round trip was less than four hours including stops to
smell-the-roses and lunch.
Bottom line, the Angeles NF is an undiscovered Mecca for hikers. Only the
professional super bike crowd has latched on to the mostly deserted twisty roads. One can
hear them coming for miles, announcing their presence at 14,000RPM and barely under
control. But all that disappears once into the wood and on the trail. To quote someone
famous "I shall return!"
