This is one of the best pictures taken by anyone on the trip. Most of the team has made it to the top of Clouds Rest and are taking in the view. It's about 4PM and the sun is low in the West (the direction the camera is pointed). After much photo-processing, this image emerged. The East side of Half Dome and it's attached shoulder are clearly visible. Day 3's objective looks small compared to surrounding canyon walls and Clouds Rest on which we stand.
The route from here takes us almost straight toward Half dome, up the shoulder, then to the top. It's about 2,000ft down immediately to the right and left of where we are standing. This is perhaps the widest part of Clouds Rest.
What a view!! All the effort to get here is repaid in full with the awesome view. Now if we can only find tonight's campsite...
