And this is what it's all about. Clouds Rest is a deceptive mountain. It rises relentlessly from the valley but also narrows. At the top, it is skinnys down to a knife edge. Hefting 50lb packs on a balance beam is either thrilling or terrifying depending on your genetic makeup.
Everyone made it to the top in tact. This shot was taken on the last rise before the crest. In the distance is half dome (left center), Yosemite Valley (center), and El Capitan (barely visible on the right side of Yosemite Valley). The picture is facing roughly West down Tenaya Canyon toward Glacier Point (hidden by Half Dome).
