Now sports fans, how would you like to camp here and wake up to this view. "Wow," you say, "The Bears97 hiking team sure was smart to find such a camp site." Wrong, camel breath. Would you believe the crack hiking team pitched their tents about 100yds SHORT of this spot? Well, we did. Never saw it the night before when searching for a suitable site. We eventually settled on one that had a decided downhill slant to it... great for sleeping... you end up dozing with one eye open so you don't roll down hill.
After breaking camp and rejoining the trail down to Half Dome, we came to this spot. What a sight! Today's objective is straight ahead about 4mi's as the crow flies but we have a bit more work to do. Beginning on this plateau, switchbacks start downward for about 1,500ft, then through the forest you see stretching toward Half Dome, and finally upward again toward the summit.
