These box panorama cameras are pretty fun gadgets, aren't they. Kurt and Sue stand at the east corner of the universe, while the photographer stands at the west point of Half Dome's face. From a distance, Half Dome vertical face seems to be almost flat. "Almost," is the operative word. When you get there, you find the upper section is somewhat U shaped with two sets of granite slabs extending over the edge marking each terminus.
The most spectacular shots late in the day as the sun sets in the West are taken toward the East as this one is. I don't know how many square miles are visible from here but it is a lot! Radial distance to the visible horizon is perhaps 50mi's limited only by the terrain, not by the atmosphere, though it was a bit hazy when we were there.
