Isn't this a great shot!  You are looking up Tenaya Canyon at Clouds Rest on the right and Basket Dome on the left.  That patch of green in the vee near the upper center of the Canyon... way in the back is near where we started this trek.  Somewhere up in there is Tenaya Lake and Tioga Road.  The John Muir trailhead is hidden 10mi's or so behind Clouds Rest.

You can kind of get a feel for the sharp ridge which tops Clouds Rest from this angle.  Though, nothing prepares you for the actual experience, the views, the thrilling climb on the narrow path with full pack, and the exhilaration at having made it to what seem like the top of the world.

I think I'll frame this one.  Note: the picture was taken from the shoulder of Half Dome.  There are several good overlooks on the way up (or down).  Good views are not the exclusive province of top.
