While the human component of our hiking team didn't take any substantial casualties, the equipment was a different story.  Tom, a.k.a. F1 Boldt, BACKED into a winch (no, not a wench) on a utility company truck.  I guess he thought "R" on the automatic shift was for "race." 

Tom briefly considered driving his own personal road rocket to Yosemite, then shelved the idea in favor of piloting one of the team vans.   Good thing, too, pictures of bear damage to parked vehicles were everywhere and there was the ever present danger of backing into a utility truck.  His BMW would never have been the same.
