This photo captures the theme for Day 4... down, down, down, and more down.  Some in our party don't like to hike down.  However, I say the reverse is worse.  As telling on the joints that pounding down granite steps is, grinding upward is worse on the constitution.

Brett is coming down this lower part of the Mist trail below Vernal Falls, being careful not trip.  A tumble here would be painful and the nearest hospital is an expensive helicopter ride away.

I find it amazing that a group of 12 hikers had so few problems during our four days in the woods.  The odds against coming out unscathed decrease geometrically with the number in the party.  Eleven is the largest hiking party I've been with and I had my doubts about everyone making it through.  Not to worry though.  The worst of it was a few foot blisters, easily fixed with Moleskin.
