Andrew, Kurt and John operate an ore cart deep inside the Last Chance copper mine. Much of the original equipment has been looted by 'tourists' but some significant pieces still remain including track, a large pump, water tank, wheel barrow and some miscellaneous power drive shafts.

This particular mine extends into the Red Wall of Horseshoe Mesa more than 100yds. There are several branches off the main tunnel, all showing signs of very rich copper sulfate deposits. One has to be careful as there are several vertical shafts which are not well boarded up. These shafts extend downward for 100ft and more. It is hard to imagine drilling into solid rock in order to extract buckets of ore (heavy) only to face packing them out pound for pound to the rim every day! Scarce water, bad weather, zero transportation lines, no readily accessible food, the list goes on and on. Hats off to these hearty souls. I'll bet none were fat... any takers?
