Snow covered the trail from Grandview Point at about 5500ft down to about 4000ft. Most of the trail remains in the shadow of the South rim during this time of year, preserving the bobsled run nature of the trail. The upper part was very steep, something this picture fails to convey very well.

Turn-of-the-century copper miners constructed the Grandview trail. However, the Park Service does not maintain it and it shows in spots.
