| Ok sports fans, the significance of this picture is that it
shows the Redwall climb we just did in the background. We have now gone about
2/3'rds of the way around the U-shaped mesa, starting from a spot above Marshall's head
(black hat), winding left around the base of the 'U' to the point where we are now
standing. Believe it or not, our route up the Redwall approximately follows Hal's right arm and shoulder, then up to the top of his head. The final pitch is directly vertical, above Hal's head, straight to the top. [Note for next time: If we had just noticed those brown arrows marking the trail, we would have had an easier time of it. You'd think the Park Service would have made them something other than brown.] |
