Hance Creek wound through its canyon in serpentine fashion for the remainder of its route to the Colorado.  At one particular turn, the canyon widened out and we stumbled onto a young deer lying down by the creek.  It was breathing hard so we thought it was hurt, in trouble, and possibly dying.  As we approached, it popped up an leaped up the hillside.

Believe it or not, the hillside is NOT climbable by humans.  This picture makes it appear to be a gradual slope but it is assuredly not!  ...And once again, a Park Service arrow draws our attention the otherwise well camouflaged deer.  How do they do that?
