We made it to our water drop in fine time.  The gallon jug was undisturbed just where we had left it four days ago.  During the death march up from Hance to Horseshoe, we calculated just how much water we would need for two meals plus the hike to the water stash on Grandview Trail.  Luckily, we were accurate in our calculations because none of us were up for going back down to Miner's Spring.

At the stash point, the two marathon men (literal interpretation) decided to 'hurt' each other and press to the finish.  Marshall and I could only plod along in their dust.   As it turned out, Hal and Paul made record time for the climb... well under 3 hrs.   This picture is proof of their superior aerobic condition and high spirits after four not-so-easy days in the Canyon.

(Editor's note:  I considered grafting Marshall and me into this picture to steal their glory, but I couldn't find the guy who inserted Bruno Magli shoes on OJ's feet, in the phone book.  Anything less than perfection would have been detectable.)
