This photo was taken from the same spot as the previous shot showing Hance Canyon.  The camera was just rotated 180 degrees to face away from Hance and toward Horseshoe Mesa.  One of those handy brown Park Service arrows points out our Day 1 camp site on the mesa.  You can click on the brown arrow to see the view we had on Day 1 down into Hance Canyon during daylight hours just 3 days ago.

We have about 1,000 vertical feet to climb in a short mile.  The Miner's Spring trail picks its way up up the Redwall near where the yellow Parks Service arrow is pointing.   The trail is very narrow in spots.  Your pack hits the wall occasionally, so it is important to maintain good balance and a clear view of the trail.  Ok, so what chance do four klutzes have of making it in the dark?...
