| Just as we got to the junction of Hance Canyon and the
Colorado Canyon, some rafters were making their way through Sockdolager Rapid. We
would have missed them if it weren't for these nifty Park Service arrows pointing them
out. The vertical drop is some 1,200 ft and very steep. The rock is Precambrian (before life on earth), sharp and unstable. We would learn more about the difficulties of scrambling through the Vishnu Schist formation shortly... |
