Now this gives you a really good idea of what it's like to bushwhack down Carrizo Creek.  Some spots, like this one, presented no alternative.  We spent time figuring out this sad fact before summoning up the energy to dive in.   Interesting fact #2 for all you would-be desert hikers is that where there is thick growth, there is water.  Carrizo Creek was completely hidden in places by the thick vegetation.  You could take a few steps before realizing you are floating on a bed of grass under your feet.  Any wiggling around and, gloop, your in up to your knees.   The water was surprisingly cold, too.
