We are now past the main Cougar palm grove (background top-left), and making our assent to the last accessible waterfall.  There are several ways to make the final push.  Unfortunately, we missed the easy route and decided to make the more difficult climbing assent instead of retreating down-canyon to pick up the easier route.  All of us questioned the sanity of this move while it was in progress as it wasn't clear whether it was possible to get to the top without climbing equipment.  We had none.
