Zion is a dead end canyon as far as cars are concerned. We have parked at the turn-around and have walked the 1/4 mi or so along a heavily traveled tourist trail which peters out when the canyon narrows, eliminating shores on both sides. From here, it is possible to proceed up the canyon but one must be willing to get wet. If it were summer, walking waist deep in 40 deg water might have been stimulating. But this is October. The guide books recommend the adventure as it evidently gets into very narrow slot formations that are hundreds of feet deep. We'll just have to come back...
