
A days drive from our
hotel in Salt Lake we arrive on the Columbia River and stop at Bonneville dam. Our luck
was holding. A barge train and tug boat pulled into the lock right on cue as we were
inspecting it. The perspective in this shot almost makes these barges seem like toys,
don't you think?
The most amazing thing was the skill it took to maneuver barges, two
abreast, into a space with only inches to spare. Yes, there was some scraping of metal on
concrete but not very much. If there were six inches on either side I'd be surprised.
