| This shot was taken from the trestle looking back onto the
last 300yds of the "trail." The overlook is that notch at the top.
Most of the difficulty is near the top but the rock-strewn valley presents
its own challenges. The horizontal cut on the middle left is where
an old RR siding is located. That siding used to hold the main tracks,
which crossed Goat Canyon via a short trestle and disappeared into the
tunnel pictured directly opposite the cut to the right. That tunnel
caved in sometime in the 1920's, causing the tracks to be relocated to
their present right-of-way and the construction of the large trestle where
the photographer is standing. |
