Goat Canyon

Julio and Susan have just finished contouring along the rocky slope above the palm grove and are about to join the main canyon.  Almost immediately to the left (out of the picture) is the water chute leading down to the palm grove.  You can tell from the polished granite rocks that a lot of water must flow here during the rainy season.  The chute is very narrow, about 3ft wide, which accelerates the water into a spectacular cascade running some 50ft vertical.

Our trek leads to the right, up canyon toward the crest of the mountain range, then down into Goat Canyon.  The going is easy here as the terrain levels out for about 0.25 miles, but it is only a false peak.  Remaining is some 300ft vertical climb before reaching the crest, then descending into Goat Canyon.
