| ...And now the REAL payoff... Our first glimpse of Goat
Canyon trestle itself. The objective keeps you in suspense until
you're within 300yds... then BANG you see it up close. Ok great!...
But then interesting problem #N+1 presents itself. The urge to make
it the rest of the way to the trestle is temporarily put on hold to survey the 50ft drop-off we're now standing on. It's a box
canyon, steep walls on three sides with no obvious way into the bottom of
the canyon.
After a bit of trial and error, the solution presents
itself. Climbing the wall to the left reveals a steep but doable
scramble down. The rocks are very loose so hiking down must be done
one at a time to prevent the inevitable rock slides form creaming the
person below.
