This shot was taken looking back down Mortero Canyon.  We are now about 0.25mi's up the canyon and have already encountered a few challenging obstacles.  The views only get better as we climb.  Note the right turn taken by Mortero Canyon (left turn from the trailhead).  It is easy to miss this turn at the beginning of the hike since it leads to the steeper of the two parallel canyons.  However, Mortero Canyon is both the shortest route and the most interesting.
