| No, this picture is not rotated 90 degrees. I am
inching my way down, braced between the walls of a water chute leading
down into the Mortero Canyon palm grove. During Spring months, water
flows with some force down this slot rendering it un-climbable. Note
the height of the polished rock giving some indication as to how much
water can flow here. During dry months, this is the shortest route
up and down from the palm grove below. Recall that our outbound
route was to the left of the palm grove featuring some gnarly rock
scrambling. This water chute is to the right. |
