We are now above the palm grove.  The route taken out of the grove is in the background.  We exited the grove to the left (looking upward) up a steep rock outcropping, then contoured along the boulder field to this point.  It's a challenging but fun stretch of rock scrambling, which I recommend as the preferred route upward.
