Long Lake and camp #1 is located directly over my hat.  Starting altitude was 11,100 ft. and at the top of New Army Pass where I am standing now is 12,300 ft.  A 1,200 ft climb to start the day doesn't sound like a whole lot, but New Army Pass should not be discounted in terms of difficulty.  The blood does get running.

The lake in the near ground is High Lake.  The three outlying lakes in are the Cottonwood lakes.  There are good camp sites near all of these lakes.  However, Long lake has a bit more tree cover against cold night winds.  Temperatures the first night dropped into the mid 30's, not cold enough to form ice in your canteen but crisp enough that getting up at daybreak was a chore.
