| ...Ah yes, remember how I was telling you how useful the
radios were in preventing hiking mistakes? Well the system ain't
perfect. While Kurt was bandaging his ankle - recall he was the one
who took an unplanned ride on a rock - Kurt called back to say that
"as far as he could tell, his side of the lake was the only passable
route along its banks." Paul and Tom believed him and are shown
here negotiating an icy snow bank.
Hal suggested Kurt's assessment was wrong and that the opposite bank may in fact be easier. The rest of us followed Hal. We immediately found a trail-of-use along the shoreline that proved to be very easy. It was pretty obvious as each group made their way along respective banks that the photographer's side was much faster than the subjects' side. On comparing notes after the teams rejoined at lake's end, the far side (pictured) was far more difficult as it required quite a bit of boulder scrambling interspersed with stretches of ice sloping into the water. ...Zing splach. |
