The next day's challenge is behind Marshall.  The trail from Guitar Lake up to Mt. Whitney begins just to the left of the meadow area and proceeds up the wash on the right side of the picture.  From there it slants up the mountainside, dissolving into a series of switchbacks, ending on the ridge you see here.  Trail Crest, where the East and West trails meet at the top of Whitney Pass, is located on the ridge near the right.  From Trail Crest, there is a spur trail that goes along the ridge from right to left ending on Whitney summit.  Whitney itself is off the left edge and behind the mountain rising on the left.
