Ta da!!  Marshall spots the Smithsonian hut at the top of Whitney.  The population of hikers up here gets pretty dense during the day.  In-season, I'll bet there are perhaps 30 hikers simultaneously taking in the sights at the summit.

Also, observe the trail...  What trail, you ask?  Good question.  The last push up to the top is pretty rough.  There are scraps of trail marked by small stones piled up by helpful hikers.  I don't recall the trail being in such bad shape the last time I made the climb a year or so ago.
